Power of Pranayama
This workshop is for anyone interested in diving deeper into the art, science, and benefits of breathwork. "Pranayama" = breathwork. The word "prana" is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning "absolute energy." In many languages, the word for breath and soul are one in the same. The breath is the bridge that connects the mind, body, and spirit. It is also the bridge that connects the first and last 3 limbs of yoga together. It is our life force. Without it, we wouldn't be here. The breath is what keeps us calm and grounded in the present moment and is one of the only things in life we can control whenever we want to. If we can change our breath, we can change or heighten our state of mind, bodily functions, emotional reactions, and essentially our life. Ancient yogis claim the longer our breath, the longer our life.
In this workshop, we'll do a short lung and diaphragm opening flow followed by practicing different breathing techniques, observation of optimal breathing pattern, nose vs. mouth breathing, controlling vs. watching the breath, physical, mental, and emotional aspects, and discussion of the history, science, and studies of breathwork.
